|---|---|
| Description: | This sphygmomanometer was used to measure blood pressure. With an arm band made of navy colored cotton twill like cloth, and the black rubber tubing with attached brass measuring device, it was used much like blood pressure gauges today. Gauge reads "Dr. Rogers' 'Tycos' No. A-7548," and measures 4 cm (diameter) x 1.5 cm (depth). The cloth cuff measures 105 x 13.5 cm, tapering to 5 cm. The black leather case with brass snap was used to hold the sphygmometer. The case contains a gold inscription on the flap which reads, "Dr. Rogers 'Tycos,' Sphygmomanometer, (Designed by Oscar A. Rogers, M.D.), Manufactured by Taylor Instrument Companies, Rochester, NY, (Patent Applied For)." Dimensions: 13.5 x 9 x 5 cm. |
